Jen’s journey began in Billings, where she grew up. She pursued her higher education at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, where she also competed in track. It was there she met her husband, and they have now been married for 21 years. Together, they co-parented his two sons and share one daughter.
Her family is diverse and dynamic. Her oldest stepson lives in Billings with his long-time girlfriend and works in the computer tech industry. Her other stepson serves as a Navy SEAL stationed in Coronado, CA, while her daughter is currently studying anthropology at Northern Arizona University. Outside of her professional life, Jen enjoys snow skiing, camping, boating, playing golf, and vacationing. She cherishes being outdoors and engaging in activities that allow her to enjoy nature’s beauty.
Jen’s passion for her work at Alternatives is evident in her dedication and the fulfillment she finds in her role. She appreciates the organization’s family-first mentality, where the importance of family is prioritized, and the mission of working with residents is deeply valued.
One of Jen’s key messages about Alternatives is the broad scope of services the agency offers. “I wish people understood that we are an agency and not just a prerelease program. We have an extensive amount of services and various job opportunities available,” she emphasizes. This comprehensive approach allows Alternatives to support individuals in numerous ways, facilitating their successful reintegration into society.
Jen Porter’s commitment and enthusiasm for her work at Passages highlight the profound impact that dedicated professionals can have on the lives of those struggling with addiction. Her leadership and compassion continue to drive positive change, helping women rebuild their futures through the supportive programs at Alternatives.
