Alternatives, Inc. is thrilled to welcome Blade Stiller as our new Board President. With over a decade of experience in commercial lending and a longstanding commitment to community service, Blade brings a wealth of professional expertise and personal passion to his new role.
Blade’s connection to Alternatives began around six years ago through his involvement with our resident purchase card program, and he joined the board shortly after. “I started with the Finance and Executive Committees, and now, I’m Board President,” he reflects. His leadership journey has been shaped by an unwavering belief in the power of second chances—a value he finds central to Alternatives’ mission.
Reflecting on his commitment, Blade says, “Just because someone messed up early on in life doesn’t mean they’re set on that path for the rest of it. The life skills that residents can take with them, and having another crack at life, are a big part of what Alternatives is about.” He also notes that nearly everyone has been impacted in some way by criminal activity or substance use, either directly or through a loved one. “Alternatives provides a second chance, and I believe everyone should have that opportunity.”
Beyond his admiration for Alternatives’ mission, Blade is enthusiastic about the organization’s far-reaching impact. “What I wish people understood about Alternatives is the actual number of people it touches,” he shares. “We’re helping keep people accountable, staying clean, and providing life skills. Alternatives impacts thousands of people, beyond just the residents. The number of employers who have hired people who’ve been through our programs or are currently residents, and the financial impact on the community, is significant.”
As he steps into his role as Board President, Blade’s focus is on building greater awareness. “During my term, I hope more people in the Billings community become aware of Alternatives and the work we’re doing to help people rebuild their lives,” he says.
